As a not-for-profit charitable organization, Fall for Dance North depends on the enthusiastic support of volunteers to help make the festival happen! We provide opportunities for volunteers (age 18+) to gain new skills, develop a social network, and represent the FFDN brand while directly engaging with our audiences.

We host a mandatory volunteer orientation before the festival to familiarize our volunteers with programming, venues, roles, and accessibility training. If you are unable to attend for any reason, please contact volunteers@ffdnorth.com. Excused absences will not prevent your ability to volunteer.
Volunteer roles include but are not limited to Festival Greeters, Festival Runners, Ticket Scanners, Ushers, Team Leaders, Airport/Hotel Greeters, Office Administrative Assistants, and Merchandise Table Support.
There is no quota of shifts to be completed, however, volunteers who complete three or more shifts receive a complimentary ticket to selected FFDN performances.
Are you a student currently, or planning to become, enrolled in post-secondary studies in Fine Arts, Arts Administration, Business, Communications, Marketing or a similar field?
Internship opportunities with FFDN provide a hands-on introduction to the inner workings of a tightly knit performing arts organization. We are committed to providing interns with one-on-one guidance and mentorship in exchange for course credit. Generally, internships run during the spring semester March-June. Internships that fall outside of this period may be considered on a case by case basis. Please contact us to inquire about internship opportunities at least one month prior to your preferred term or start date.

We are currently hiring for the internship positions of Advancement Intern, and Administrative Assistant Intern.
Job Posting: Advancement Intern

215 Hours, approximately 10-15 hours per week
Location: Toronto (hybrid work arrangement)
Remuneration for Internship: Honorarium of $1,500. Festival t-shirt, festival tickets,
invitation to FFDN events.
Mentored by: General Manager and Director of Advancement & Communications
About the Role: Advancement encompasses fundraising as well as partnerships and relationships that raise our brand profile. As such, the intern will work across the advancement and administrative departments. This role will build and support relationships across various communities, including donors and foundations, funders, schools, youth groups, seniors, newcomers, volunteers, and small businesses. It will also support small grant applications,new funding opportunities, and research. This role provides a great opportunity to experience on the ground learning in building up to a festival launch.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Support coordination of Volunteer Appreciation event and Patrons’ Circle gatherings in May/June;
- Research and lead small micro-grant applications - ASL, accessibility grants, new foundations;
- Foundations and sponsorship research;
- Small business engagement - discounts and donated items for artist gift bags and FFDN ticket holder offers;
- School show outreach/email invites to schools;
- Over the summer, - update outreach and VIP lists;
- General outreach/engagement (Union Summer, flyer distribution, etc.);
- Support Advancement in reimagining and rolling out FFDN’s 2026 Unparalleled program;
- General distribution of festival materials and flyers in coordination with Festival Coordinator and/or marketing team as materials become available;
- Attend team meetings and support with follow up as required;
- Ongoing support to General Manager and Director of Advancement & Communications as required in overall administration for the festival;
Desired Experience/Skills
- Experience and/or education in arts management, and/or event planning and project management
- Very well organized and detail oriented
- Clear communication and writing skills
- Proficient in Microsoft programs
- Ability to work independently and in a team
- Adaptable personality - ability to problem solve, embrace flexibility and versatility, while working in a high-paced, evolving environment
- Familiarity with the Toronto dance community is an asset

About the Role: The Administrative Assistant will be an integral part of the FFDN team where they will have the opportunity to develop and refine a number of skills in the area of office administration. The Administrative Assistant will play an essential role in supporting our team and ensuring smooth operations across departments including general administration, programming and marketing. This role will work closely with the General Manager to oversee overall operations in maintaining records, conducting research, monitoring project goals, liaising with partners and responding to general inquiries from our patrons and the public. This is an exciting opportunity for a detail-oriented individual who thrives in a collaborative environment and is eager to make a meaningful impact.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Respond to daily inquiries via email and by telephone and redirect them as appropriate
- Maintain records systems of suppliers, donors, or other contacts
- Support the maintenance of physical and digital filing systems and back-ups
- Manage schedules, appointments, and meetings for supervisors or managers
- Support Finance Officer with financial filing, record keeping and mailing
- Responsible for ensuring office is properly stocked for supplies and amenities
- Meeting minute taking for staff meetings as necessary
- Support with areas such as merchandising, hospitality and inventory management
- Support programming department with logistics for events including set up and take down and onsite presence
- Small business engagement - discounts and donated items for artist gift bags and FFDN ticket holder offers
- School show outreach/email invites to schools;
- Over the summer, - update outreach and VIP lists;
- General outreach/engagement (Union Summer, flyer distribution, etc.)
