A NOTE FROM ALYSSA MARTIN

It’s a gift to be here at Fall for Dance North, and to be involved in such a dance-staple of this city we live in. It feels especially meaningful to be sharing a piece that is a tribute to both the dancers within it and the audiences who take part in it. Thank you for being here with us!

With Big Time Miss, our hearts swelled up so much from laughing they had to burst, they erupted into multitudes and here are the chunks. In all things magic, there is a pulse of loss. It seems the people who love dance the most are the ones who can handle the fact that it’s constantly in a state of disappearing, and so we spend our lives fervently chasing its next appearance.

In that spirit, we’ve built this temporary arena for your imagination, and we want you to fill it with your entire self. Really, just inject yourself into this world and see what happens in your skull and chest. This is what I’ve been fortunate enough to witness the dancers do over the past year of creation together, and it has been heart-changing for me. This work is entirely theirs, filled with their secrets and heartaches and impeccable jokes.

We’re so grateful for the big team of people who have supported and nurtured this work in ways that have gone above and beyond the norm. This includes you, Fall for Dance North, thank you so much for having us <3
